York kicked off attacking the North Stand end. Larkin was looking sharp and in the 6th minute dispossessed OKane half way in the York half and ran through but his cross failed to reach Andy White. Stags strung a few good moves together with out putting any pressure on the York goal.
The first half chance came in the 21st minute when a long throw from Buxton went just over Andy Whites head. York had their first chance a minute later when Bashams shot from the corner of the box drifted just over the bar. Minutes later, Rogerio had a fierce shot from outside the box which brought out a good diving save from White.
Stags then had their first attempt on target when Rews weak shot from outside the area was easily gathered by Howarth.
Stags finally broke through in the 32nd minute when Larkin beat the offside trap and ran into the box and his shot from a narrow angle was deflected into the net by Howarth. Larkin was replaced by Beardsley shortly after the goal.
Beardsley put the ball in the next ion the 6th minute of the 2nd half but it was ruled out for offside. York were creating some chances and after Buxton failed to clear the ball, Mazzine had a powerful shot pushed round the post for a corner by White. When the ball was cleared, Andy White picked the ball up by the touchline and had a great run in but his shot from the edge of the box was easily taken by Howarth.
In the 65th minute Beardsley and White combined well but Rew was just out of reach of the cross. Carter replaced Lazarus in the 78th minute. Mazzine managed a couple of long range shots for York which were just off target.
York won a free kick 30 yards out on the left. The shot was wide but the referee ordered a retake as there was a skirmish in the box involving Reddington. The referee consulted his assistant and cautioned Wood.
In the dying minutes. Carter disposed Arthur just outside the box and was pulled back by him resulting in a caution. Hurst curling free kick was headed down at the far post by Holyoak but there was no Stags player there to connect. Mitchell replaced Andy White for the last couple of minutes as Stags hung on to their narrow lead.
York certainly has the better of the 2nd half with 5 corners and several long range shots from Mazzine while Stags won no corners in the 2nd half.
