Sisson
returns for reserves
Teamtalk.com, 29 Nov 2001
Michael Sisson returned to action last night, after 15
months out, playing
the second-half of the reserves' 4-3 defeat by Kidderminster.
The midfielder played most of the second period after coming on
as
substitute, and boss Billy Dearden was delighted to see the
cruciate
ligament victim back in action.
He said: "I was just pleased to see him with a football kit
on and playing
a bit of a game.
"It's been so long and I am sure Sisso was a little nervous
when he went
out there.
"You are always wary of an injury after being out for so
long. But he came
through all right, even though he was breathing out of his
backside by the
end!
"Obviously he is miles off the pace of the game, but that
was the first
step."
Dearden was disappointed with his side's defending after taking a
2-0 lead
against Harriers in this Avon Insurance League Division Two
thriller.
Danny Bacon netted a penalty and big Andy White made it 2-0 in
the first
half-hour.
However, the home side fought back to lead 3-2 after half-time
only to
concede an own goal to make it 3-3.
The deciding goal went Harriers way, though, after The Stags had
to shuffle
the team around with trialist Shaun Derry and striker Danny Bacon
both
limping off injured.
On a brighter note Martin Pemberton played 90 minutes after a
three-game
suspension while goalkeeper Michael Bingham and David Jervis were
Stags'
shining lights with excellent performances.
Bacon out of Swans clash
Teamtalk.com, 29 Nov 2001
Danny Bacon has been ruled out of the visit of Swansea on
Saturday after
picking up a hip injury playing for the reserves yesterday.
Unlucky striker Bacon took a whack to his hip in the first 15
minutes of
last night's second-string outing at Kidderminster and had to
come off
later on.
He will definitely not be back in time to face The Swans at the
weekend,
with boss Billy Dearden admitting: "It is a different injury
to the one
that has kept him out recently and he is just very unlucky right
now.
"It really is stop-start with Danny this season. Every time
he gets in the
first team he gets a knock and is back out again.
"He got this latest injury early on and was limping in the
second half so
we brought him off."

report from www.harriers.co.uk
Harriers
Reserves 4 - 3 Mansfield Reserves
Avon Insurance Second Division
HARRIERS recorded their fifth victory in a row, coming
from two down at the break to win a seven-goal thriller.
Harriers had the best of the possession in the opening stages,
but could not find a finishing touch in the penalty area. The
visitors the took the lead against the run of play when Paul Webb
was caught out by a long ball and Andy White nipped in behind him
to lob the ball over Brendan Murphy. Webb's
disappointment was made worse a few minutes later when he brought
down White in the penalty area. Danny Bacon took the kick and
sent Murphy the wrong way. Not long after Webb dived to head a
dangerous cross out for a corner and only narrowly missed putting
it into his own net.
After the break Harriers came out with more purpose and soon were
in control of the game. Corbett, Faulds and Foster all were
denied by Bingham in the Mansfield goal before the breakthrough
was made. A cross-field pass from Michael Keegan found
Foster on the left and he curled a shot into the top corner from
the edge of the penalty area. Buoyed by the goal,
Harriers pressed on and were soon level. Corbett gained
possession and set up the lively Andy Ducros who tucked his shot
in low to Bingham's left. At this point Harriers were the
only team that was going to go on and win the game, but they
surprisingly fell behind again. A good run by Martin Pemberton
create the opening and his cross-shot was turned into his own net
by Peter Faulds.
However Faulds soon made when Sam Shilton broke through the
visitors' defence only to see his shot well saved but Faulds
followed up to fire in the loose ball. Shilton was involved
in the winner, his pass set up Foster who scored with another
curled shot, this time into the bottom corner.
Harriers now move into second position in the league, four points
behind leaders Macclesfield. Another plus point for
Harriers in the game was Lee Ayres' first appearance since
breaking his foot at Hull in August.
Harriers: Murphy, Davies, Joy, Keegan, Webb, Ayres, Faulds,
Foster, Corbett (Hadley 61), Ducros, Shilton (Downs 80).
