Pemberton nets brace in reserves' win

Two goals in 10 minutes from Martin Pemberton turned The Stags reserves' home clash with Carlisle around yesterday, as they ran out 2-1 winners.
It was nothing more than a
very young Mansfield side deserved with Carlisle keeper Richard
Nicholson pulling off a string of good stops.
However, the visitors played their part in an entertaining Avon
Insurance League Division Two clash, particularly in the first
half.
Out-of-favour central defender Stuart Reddington's dominance made
sure youth team keeper Jason White did not have too much to do.
But, when called upon, the youngster handled well and dominated
his box with confidence.
Big striker Andy White might have finished with four or five
goals to his name on any other day as he ran riot up front, only
to find Nicholson in his way.
Nicholson twice beat out efforts from striker White, along with
one from Bromsgrove trialist Shaun Derry, in the first half.
He also got his hands to another White effort and could only look
on as Craig Mitchell turned the loose ball against the post with
the goal gaping.
But United took the lead with a disputed 64th minute penalty
after Danny Holyoak was adjudged to have handled.
Carlisle striker Ian Stevens saw keeper Jason White get down well
to save his spot kick but rammed the ball home at the second
attempt.
Pemberton, now suspended from the first team for three games,
then took centre stage.
On 71 minutes he capitalised on a collision between Nicholson and
defender Steven Rooke, to walk the ball into an empty net.
And on 81 minutes he raced down the left and accelerated away to
crash home an excellent finish.
